Distribution Assistant

Location: 5 Queensway, Croydon, CR9 4DL

Contract: Permanent, 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. Some flexibility required; occasional weekends.

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Distribution Assistant to support our export operations. This role combines core warehouse duties with export-specific responsibilities, requiring strong IT skills, excellent communication, and meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The role involves both independent work and collaboration with the export team and head office.

What you will do

  • Perform picking, packing, and preparation of goods for export
  • Ensure accurate labelling, documentation, and data entry for all shipments, including weights and dimensions
  • Communicate effectively with the export team and head office regarding export requests
  • Support bulk orders when the Team Leader is unavailable
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment
  • Follow all warehouse procedures and health & safety regulations
  • Complete mandatory Dangerous Goods Training and achieve the required certification
  • Report any issues or discrepancies promptly to supervisors and team leaders
  • Provide support in other areas of the distribution centre during quieter periods
  • Assist with various warehouse duties, including import/export activities, as needed
  • Comply with departmental KPIs and uphold safe working practices
  • Contribute to the on-going and company-wide version of sustainability

What you will bring

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution role is preferred
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, D365 and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams
  • Self-motivated, organised, and enthusiastic with a flexible attitude and ability to work on own initiative
  • Physically able to lift, move, and handle goods safely
  • Must complete and pass Dangerous Goods Training before handling export shipments
  • Awareness of retail demands during busy periods and ability to work under pressure
  • Approachable with the ability to liaise comfortably and appropriately with all levels of the business
  • High attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and shipment information
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with others
